I'd Rather Be a Camera Than a Fish

The photos above are taken from a blog I discovered recently The World Tour which is a cruising blog about a young couple from Barcelona, Alex and Taru, who are sailing around the world on their Hallberg Rassy 352. (That's Taru in the first and third pictures.)

Regular readers of this blog will know that I'm not usually much of a fan of cruising blogs. But this one is different. I can't quite define what it is about Taru and Alex's blog that especially appeals to me, but I expect I will work it out as I continue to follow their voyage.

They are currently in Martinique and the photos of wildlife and scenery are magnificent. Hope you enjoy The World Tour too.

I think the explanation for your newfound passion is quite simple, actually.

You're a healthy, red-blooded male.

You can't help but gaze longingly at the perfect proportions and graceful curves of the Halberg Rassy 352.

There was a video on that blog of snorkelling which caught my eye - because of the impressive underwater sand ripples and the pattern of light on it, you understand, no other reason!

Sigh... nope not even convincing myself. Its another cold wet day here in London.

Taru is a lucky man. He can sail right out of Barcelona and up the Costa Brava. There are coves and grottos and so forth that are simultaneously cozy and spectacular.

He should bring the girl, too.

If Taru is a man, then I need new glasses.

Tillerman: Discovered recently? Did you ever see the Geico commercial where two guys are living under rocks? I know there are rocks in RI, but..........

Tillerman said...

Yes, Baydog there are rocks in RI. No, Baydog, I don't live under one.

I don't know why you think I should have discovered this blog before? I don't get out much these days.

I actually became aware of it because Taru left a comment on my post about "the rumor of his parties and the orgies on his yacht." Of over 30 comments I thought it was one of the most insightful and helpful. She's a smart lady. Perhaps that's one reason I like her blog so much?

Hmmmmm. Could be. Could be.

I can't quite put my finger on it, either.

More's the pity.

Miguel, have you had your eyes checked lately? I think it's time.

You can't go wrong with a gorgeous wahine and great photography.

Don't forget the fish. Nobody has mentioned the fish yet.

The fish yet

Ahah. At last I know why I like this blog so much. On today's post Alex explained that their Hallberg Rassy 352 has a Delta from Lewmar, 20 kilo (44lb) as a main anchor, Cqr 25 kilo (55lb) as a secondary anchor and their third anchor is a Danforth on about ten kilos (22lb).

I knew there was something that was raising the hairs on the back of my neck. Now I know. It's the anchors.

I try to write a blog about life on cruising boats and all I get is a lot of poop from you about how such boats are just for pooping.

Now, Alex and Taru have found a way to arouse your interest.

Where have I failed?

O Docker. You haven't failed. You have pioneered a whole new genre of blogging: never writing about the real subject of your blog. Your blog about life on cruising boats (was that really the original subject?) is so interesting because you never write about living on the boat or going cruising. Instead you entertain your readers with posts about such subjects as funny hats, cockroaches and Barry Manilow. What genius!

It would seem that Alex is trying to copy your style by moving away from the main subject of his blog (Taru in a bikini) and is starting to write about such hilarious topics as anchors, navigational aids and amp-hours (whatever they are.) But he does seem to lack your dry sense of humor in his efforts so far.
